Matt Haughey being interviewed about Me
Matt Haughey being interviewed about MetaFilter and why it works.
He makes a great point about anonymity and why most internet comment sections are full of rampaging idiots: it's not the anonymity that's the problem, it's the fact that they can get a new anonymous identity each time. MetaFilter solved that by putting in a couple of small barriers to register: one account per email, and a $5 one-off charge.
But then Facebook ignored that idea and went with real names. And Google+ just copied them.
