Ideally this would be:
1) a minecraft clone based around lego pieces, supporting vehicles and rigid-body physics, and
2) open source, in a kid-friendly language, to encourage older kids to code and share their mods as well as play, and
3) include mindstorms-like programmable blocks inside it, which can be scripted in an even friendlier language like Scratch, and enable all kids to share their robots and factories that they have built and programmed.

It won't be any of these things. But that is what it should be. The whole point of Lego is that it is fully constructable, like Minecraft and programming both are but they seem to keep forgetting that core thing.

Even better: if the internals of the mindstorms-like blocks could be some sort of cellular automata, like redstone circuits. Then the kids could see that all programming is based on simple circuits at the base level, and that there is no secret mystery to it.

A new Bionicles themed set I think it was. I'm sure there were people excited by it.
