Interesting bits from this talk:
1) Finding out that only three people have ever gone through Babbage's notes in sufficient detail. All three are now dead.
2) Hearing about the bugs in the design for the Difference Engine, which were astonishingly minor and only concerned with strength and friction. Compare with the issues in Codd's 1968 design for a self-replicating computer, which while still minor were logical and required components to be redesigned. (See my 2010 paper.)
